9/27/2023 0 Comments Linux lite freezesProblems, also if you use USB3 devices at capacity, etc. I have 16GB installed and rarely use more than 4 unless I'm doing heavy duty GIMP work. The reason it is happening to you is that you are running low on memory I fix it with a Ctrl-Alt-Esc restart of Cinnamon. Speaking personally it started after I added an Nvidia graphics card(GTX710) and Cinnamon now locks up every day or two. It may be closed as an issue but it's still a PITA for users. Please notice that this issue has been closed, and it is five years old. NOTE: fixing the TIME so that it cannot CHANGE by itself FIXED the FREEZING issue in LINUX MINT. Making sure the little box is ticked, ensures that the Time cannot change by itself because it is 'ticked' in the little box. The issue at hand is the freezing issue, and making sure the time couldn't 'change' by itself fixed the freezing issue. What is the connection between the date being off on your computer and everyone else's freezing issues?Īll I can tell you is that it worked for me. (The time was out of wack on my pc, so do this.) I meant that you should make sure the box is ticked on Network Settings, under Time and Date on desktop. Make sure you tick it off.Ĭould you clarify? What did you turn off? Go to your DATE AND TIME then click on NETWORK SETTINGS. The one where the mouse moves but it takes minutes for any applications to popup including web browser and pages. Which one? The periodic freezes where input is accepted and the mouse moves but nothing else is updated until after the freeze is over? Or one of the other types reported? Finally tracked my issue to be caused by Variety (wallpaper changer). I can't use a service like teamviewer since they think it's commercial usage for some weird reason. I am trying to have it where if I just close an x2go session, I can resume at any point and proceed where i left ActionParsnip: I am using this if I need to see something on my home network. However if I log out and then go back in, everything works fine. Now I noticed that if I close the session and go back in, it will not allow me to initiate anything at all (open a browser etc.). Handy service for being able to connect to a machine you own from anywhere so as long as both devices using the session are on the same zerotier network (free). "No LSB modules are available.Distributor ID: Ubuntu lsb_release -a will say exactly which release so we don't have to hope or guess.I am using the LTS release of ubuntu and when I say updated, I mean all the latest patches are installed. May want to try openbox first if you are really new to linux.īTW, saying you have the latest often doesn't mean the same to different people. My solution was to change to using fvwm which is crazy fast bcase t is very light. Don't expect those to be displayed on the real hardware.Īs for locking up, I've seen slowdowns with non-lite DEs like gnome3 and Mate. X2go uses virtual sessions and virtual desktops. Or did you post this thread in the wrong forum? Sometime in March, testing of the next release by normal people will be appreciated. If you are new to Linux, then you should be running an LTS release like 20.04, not the latest development version which is basically for developers only at this point.
